Imphal, January 29 2009:
The proscribed PREPAK has announced that it has imposed a temporary ban on all gas agents for duping the consumers as well as for not heeding to their call to talk things over.
In a statement, Task Recovery Force of the outfit said that following complaints from the public, it investigated the case and came to confirm that only 1/4th of the LPG quota received in Manipur reach the consumers.
This can be gauged from the fact that consumers have to wait as long as two months from the time of their booking.
On the other hand even during long periods of bandhs and blockades, LPG cylinders are found sold all over.
This is proof that the LPG agents have been siphoning off the consumers' share to black marketeers.
Anyone violating the ban order will be severely dealt with warned the outfit further.
The Task Recovery Force will also monitor the corrupt elements in Government Departments as well as private traders.
