Imphal, October 26:
Even though all the employees of the State Government and private establishments have been paid their salaries ahead of Ningol Chakkouba and Id-Ul-Fitr, the employees (teaching and non-teaching staff) of Lilong DI Office were denied their due salaries ahead of the recent biggest festivals of the State.
A statement issued by the Elementary School Teachers' Welfare Association (ESTWA), Lilong alleged that the DDO of Lilong DI Office Md Abdul Zabbar was responsible for the woes of the employees.
While the DDO was scheming and plotting to earn a huge amount of money for himself after deducting from the salaries of the employees of his office, the employees of the DI Office Lilong were denied salaries for the month of June and July this year before the great festivals of Ningol Chakkouba and Id-Ul-Fitr, charged ESTWA.
Noting that the Assembly Speaker Dr Maniruddin Sheikh has been approached repeatedly to take up befitting actions against the errant DDO, the teachers' body also held the Speaker accountable for their plight as he failed to take up any positive measure thereby giving the DDO a free hand to deal with his employees.
The teachers further demanded an explanation from Dr Maniruddin Sheikh.
As the employees came to the office with the hope to draw their salaries on October 23, the cashier and AI of the office asked the desperate employees to take their salaries from the home of DDO under some conditions.
Even though the employees were against the conditions put up by the DDO, they accepted his conditions compelled by the burning needs of the situation.
But then the DDO declined to pay the salaries in the last minute after which his the AI and the cashier disappeared, disclosed the statement.
Maintaining that the no amount of money would be allowed to deduct from their salaries as the DDO had failed to keep his words, it asked all the employees not to draw their salaries from DDO Md Abdul Zabbar.
The teachers' body reiterated its appeal to the Speaker Dr Maniruddin Sheikh and the authority concerned to take up befitting actions against the DDO.
