A public meeting held today at Ima Khunthokhanbi ground, Thangmeiband with representatives of various social organisations and Meira Paibi groups has resolved to rehabilitate all the thirteen displaced families of Langol Laimanai at their respective homes there after repairing their houses, conveyed a release.
The meeting was specifically convened to discuss the issue of Langol Laimanai and to re-settle the 13 families currently taking shelter at a relief camp though an amicable understanding.
Various resolutions were adopted during the meeting presided jointly by the president of the Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur Memchoubi and presidents of the Adhoc Committee and the Langol Laithungching Meira Paibi.
The meeting also strongly condemned the alleged threat issued by a self-identified KYKL cadre against president of the Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur L Memchoubi through telephone at about 4.10 pm of June 24 not to get involved in the issue of Langol Laimanai.
Another unanimous resolution adopted in the meeting was to condemn the act of intimidating and committing violence against civilians for the sake of land.
Other resolutions adopted during the meeting include seeking aid from the people for the family of the person killed in the Langol Laimanai incident as well as for the family of the another victim whose leg has been amputated because of the Langol Laimanai assault.
In case of any act of targeting and intimidating the victimised families in connection with the Langol Laimanai land dispute and the subsequent incidents, the meeting agreed to presume that the particular group accused for assaulting those families is responsible for such acts in future.
A two minutes' silence was also observed during the meeting to condole the those killed, maimed and displaced by the Langol Laimanai incident, added the release.
Fifty members of the 13 displaced families have been living outside their homes after they ousted from Langol Laimanai by repeated threats.
