Arson attacks in Manipur valley by miscreanrts on educational institutions continue even today.
Some unidentified people burnt down Kammong Public School today at around 12:30 pm at Kammong village, located at North West of Nambol Police Station under Bishnupur district.
According to sources from the locality, some agitators came to the school and started the arson attack.
However, the villagers saved the school from complete damage.
The villagers have appealed the Government for security protection to the government and terned such thing as wild act.
With today's incident, the number of educational institutions that had come under the arson attacks since Monday has gone up to seven.
Triggered by the July 23 'fake' encounter incident students organisations viz, All Manipur Students Union (AMSU), Manipuri Students Federation (MSF) and Kangleipak Students Association (KSA) have been boycotting classes in Manipur since September 9 .
At the backdrop of this development, Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has been advocating for the resumption of classes.
The State Government has taken up security measures so that normal classes can be conducted.
Last week, a high level meeting of the State Government resolved to make arrangement so that educational institutions resume their classes from November 9 .
The State Government has been appealing since then to the guardians to start sending their wards to their respective institutions.
Paying heed to the appeal, some educational institutions cautiously began to unlock the doors but few takers from the students' community hamper from conducting normal classes.
Amidst this development, miscreants suspected to be class boycott supporters started the nocturnal arson attacks and now it stands that seven institutions have come under such attacks.
