Nagas of Manipur will be celebrating this year's seed sowing festival, Lui-Ngai-Ni ( celebrated on every February 15 ) with a difference for which elaborate preparations have begun.
This year's celebration venue will be at Senapati headquarters.
The festival is a Manipur government recognised one henceforth it is a state holiday.
UNC Information and Publicity secretary S Milan in a statement said that delegates from Naga tribes of Manipur and also "Naga brothers" from different parts of the North East India would be participating in the festival.
The release further said that Naga traditional fashion parades, Naga folk songs, Naga traditional dances, pop music, traditional fire lighting and the Miss Lui-Ngai-Ni contest are some of the attractive features of the celebration.
The release also said that heart-throb of the youths singer Alvina Gonson of the Red Devils, Naga folk blues guru Rewben Mashangva, popular Jaingam and his party and Peitoi, the Naga Lata Mangeskar would be cheering the crowd during the celebration.
Mention may be made that every year the Nagas living in Manipur had been celebrating the seed sowing festival for the last 15 years or so with pomp and show.
Every Naga tribe living in Manipur participates in the celebration by displaying their respective traditional items.
Cultural troupes in large number will conglomerate in the celebration venue.
The venue of the seed sowing festival will change every year to make sure that it touches all the Naga inhabited areas in Manipur.
Selling of Naga cultural dishes adds flavour to the festival.
UNC Information and Publicity secretary said that it was the day when the Nagas pray the God Almighty to bless crops for bumper harvest.
