Imphal, January 30:
A number of reporters who had gone to cover the press conference called by the NEC Secretary Dr Kamal Taori at RIMS guest house today were left fuming over the manner in which the media conference was botched up by some individuals.
Preparations for the press conference were made a few days back to enable the media here to interact with the NEC team and the scheduled conference was conveyed to the media organisations over the phone today.
As a number of newsmen, including correspondents of National papers, electronic media and reporters of the State dailies arrived at RIMS for the scheduled conference, an individual connected with RIMS informed the scribes that no conference has been convened.
Feeling slighted a number of newsmen left in a huff.
However some media persons did stay back and even as the conference got under way a team of RIMS officials led by its Director came to the venue of the conference and brought up a number of discussions related to development projects of the institute.
The unwarranted interference did send tempers flying among the newsmen and again some left the conference hall.
Understanding the uneasy atmosphere, Dr Taori made it clear that he was there to meet the media and the RIMS officials left the venue and only then did the conference begin.
