Imphal, April 23:
Observing that the call for peace, development, integrity and unity has reached its zenith in Manipur amidst the rising cases of killings, kidnappings etc, the Naga W@tch Dog Organisation (NAW@DO) noted that slogans of various sorts have filled the atmosphere of the State even as nothing concrete has evolved from such activities.
A statement issued by NAW@DO, nevertheless, acknowledged that the whole State came together on many issues such as the case of Lungnila Elizabeth, AFSPA, murder of Hubert and Martin etc.
However, on many other issues like development, integrity, employment, reservation etc, the State remains a divided lot, it asserted.
Maintaining that what is due to each be accorded accordingly, the NAW@DO opined that issues of common interest be taken up unitedly, while in cases of issues that do not evoke common interest, the opinion and standpoints of every group concerned be respected.
When ANSAM imposed economic blockade along National highways for a record 52 days, it was the Nagas alone that supported the issue (though its outcome is debatable).
Nevertheless, the outcome of the economic blockade is a milestone for the Naga cause, remarked the Naga Watch Dog Organisation.
On the other hand, the outcome of the anti-ceasefire agitation spearheaded by the majority community under the banner of AMUCO etc with negligible support by hill people is another milestone in the history of Manipur "whether we like or not", it added.
Manipur being home to various community, every move concerning any issue, policy, agenda etc should be made with caution.
Arrogance and chauvinism will only open the Pandora's Box of disintegration, disunity etc in the State, it observed.
Stressing on the importance of holistic approach that will go a long way in solving the myriad issues plaguing the State, the the Watch Dog Organisation appealed to all unions/organisations to be constructive and conforming to truth and justice so as to bring about socio-economic and political integration in Manipur.
