Cabinet sets eyes on 54 pc increase

The SPF Cabinet has today approved the proposal of the State Government to approach the Union Planning Commission for finalising the annual plan outlay of the State for the next financial year, 2011-2012 at Rs 4021 crores.
This is an increase of 54 pc from the Rs 2600 crores current Plan Size and is also in line with the advice of the Union PLanning Commission to the State Government to prepare the Plan size with at least a 10 percent increase from the current Plan size.
Talking to mediapersons in connection with the Cabinet meeting, Government spokesperson and Minister of Sports and IFC N Biren informed that the proposed annual plan outlay for the next financial year is an increase of 54 percent from the annual plan outlay of the current financial year.

The spokesperson said that the Cabinet meeting presided by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and held at the Chief Minister's Secretariat further approved the increase of Value Added Tax (VAT) currently being levied from the current 4 percent to 5 percent and from 12.5 percent to 13.5 percent respectively.
This is in consideration of the infrastructural development that would be required for development in various sectors including health and under the Autonomous District Councils of the hill districts, the spokesperson explained.
Restoring the fate of 306 employees under Manipur Legislative Assembly, who were delisted from Manipur Government Employee List (MGEL) following the burning down of the Assembly building by irate public, destroying all documents and appointment records, the Cabinet has also approved enlisting of their names in MGEL.
Along with recommending update of 306 posts that have been recruited under Manipur Legislative Assembly in the MGEL (Manipur Government Employees' List), today's Cabinet meeting has also recommended appointment of 191 posts on contract basis under Education Department for development of infrastructures related to implementation of SSA.
Among this 191 posts, there is a post for one EE, 10 AEs, 13 SOs, 13 System Analysis cum District Co-ordinator, 22 Accountants and 3 Office Assistants.
Furthermore, the Cabinet has given its approval to the proposal to pay Rs 5,000 each as premium in name sake in connection with acquirement of 34 acres of land for construction of High Court complex at Chingmeirong and 5 acres of land at Koirengei for construction of District DIET Centre, the spokesperson further said.
