Despite the unsuccessful operation conducted by BSF personnel at Sajik Tampak last year, all decks have been cleared and the Indian army is once again ready for a large scale operations at Sajik Tampak for flushing out UGs from the area, disclosed a highly reliable source.
Sources further said that a large chunk of the central security forces which have arrived in the State during the last few days for the polls have rushed towards Sajik Tampak and has begun preparations for a final assault on the UG camps concentrated in the area.
It may be noted here that talks between the Indian Govt officials and Myanmar officials had been conducted many times for carrying out a military operation at Sajik Tampak similar to the recent one carried out by the Bhutan Royal Army to flush out ULFA militants from theAssam-Bhutan border.
According to a report, a large number of Army vehicles carrying army personnel have already moved into Sugnu, Churachandpur and Chandel during the last few days with the primary aim of launching an all out attack on the UGs camps located at Sajik Tampak.
It also said that Myanmar security personnel would seal the porous Indo-Myanmar border during the military operation of the Indian army.
The length of Manipur-Myanmar border is 350 kms.
No intimations have been made to the State Govt by the concerned authorities with regard to the impending operations at Sajik Tampak, added the source.
Talking to this reporter on the matter, 9 Sector Assam Rifles Commandant Brig EJ Kochekkan informed that he has no knowledge about any operations at Sajik Tampak and its surrounding areas but added that the deployment of troops near Sajik Tampak might be related to the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
According to a high ranking official of the State Election Department, deployment of troops at Sajik Tampak is not in any way connected with the upcoming polls and there must some other reason for the troop build up.
State DGP AK Parashar who also interacted with this reporter today said that no official intimations have been sent to him by the concerned authorities regarding the impending operation at Sajik Tampak and further added that Army operations are not organized by the State Police Department but are conducted under the GOC.
Mention may be made here that BSF personnel who had marched into Sajik Tampak last year to flush out Militants had to return back after suffering heavy causalities including the life of an Assistant Commandant.
