Claiming that several hectares of paddy fields, livestock and standing crops have been ravaged by flood water, many social and youth organizations have appealed to the authorities concerned to provide relief materials.
Among the flood woes are forced closure of educational institutions in exterior towns of the State.
While effect of continuing rainfall in low laying areas of urban residential places are mostly confined to throwing daily chores out of gear the rural people are fearing of long term suffering as the flood water has destroyed their earning sources besides damaging houses as a result of sizeable hail storm in the last few days.
Stating that around 100 houses, cattle sheds, and 10 paris of cultivable areas have been submerged in Lairenkabi area, Rural Development Club, Lairenkabi fervently appealed for immediate attention of the State authorities.
The flood waters caused havoc in Irong Chesaba, Leisangthem Thoudam, Maibam, Uchiwa and Hayel Hanggun areas of Thoubal district where early paddy plantations and pisciculture farms have been completely submerged, according to a release of Irong Chesaba GP pradhan Md Abdul Latif urging for necessary relief measures.
Deploring callous attitude of the Govt to repeated demands for proper maintenance of Nambol L Sanoi College the students' union of the college blamed the Govt for inundation of not only the approach road but the college building as well.
With the dwelling huts destroyed by either hail storm or over-flowing river waters United Voluntary Organization, Moirang said around 800 people are talking shelter in six relief camps opened in and around Moirang area.
Areas ravaged from the flood are Wangod, Kumbi, Thangalawai, Kairenphabi.
Chandpur, Chingmei, Moirang, Moirangkhunou, Toubul, Khoijuman, Kwasiphai, Nambol and several other locations within JBishnupur district, said the Organization.
Claiming that two people also got hurt in lighting the body said nearly 300 paris of paddy plantations have been destroyed.
