Imphal, May 16 2009:
A couple of days after the NSCN (IM) gave its verdict on the Kasom Khullen killing incident, the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) today termed the judgment of the NSCN (IM) and its subsequent court martial as 'defending the killers'.
In the wake of the NSCN (IM)'s verdict to the killers involved in Dr Kishan and two other staffs' murder case, a statement released by the senior publicity officer of the UNLF, Ksh Yoiheiba tells the NSCN-IM to do justice in the name of God, to lift the truth, to strive to live in peace with all communities of the World, and to stick to their words.
Recalling that the NSCN-IM had admitted the involvement of its cadres and 'officer' in the killing of Dr Kishan and two of his staff on February 17 last after long denial and passing the buck to someone else, it stated that the voices of the discontented public had filled the land.
It would not be an exaggeration to state that the killing of the three staffs near Taphou Kuki village in Senapati district after kidnapping them from Ukhrul town was a very diabolical attempt to ignite clash between the Kukis and the Meiteis, the UNLF statement pointed out.
Yoiheiba also stated to ask the fault of the two subordinate staffs Y Token and A Rajen while three other Tangkhuls kidnapped along with the three Meitei staffs were unharmed.
"Is not this the visage of NSCN (IM)'s low communal-criminal politics?" it asks.
The UNLF had predicted that the NSCN (IM) leaders will never deliver justice in the cold-blooded crime under its communal politics, the statement recalled while asserting that the prediction was proved.
Affirming that the NSCN (IM)'s General Court Martial verdict is burying the right to shield the wrong, the statement also pointed out that 'Lt Col Ningshen' has been punished alone while other involved cadres – Town Commander Apho Sibo and Maj Ashang – have been sidelined.
Though the NSCN (IM) pronounced the DC of Ukhrul District Pankaj as the 'mastermind' in the killing incident, the UNLF statement stated that, the embezzlement of funds for Ukhrul district by the NSCN (IM) and Pankaj has been concealed by them while persuading them to be truthful.
Truth is universal, and it belongs to all irrespective of communities and religions, it added.
Yoiheiba further stated that labeling charges to a dead man after killing in a barbarous way is not expected of an organisation which boasts of its power.
Had there been any fault of Dr Kishan and two of his staffs, their fault may be made known before killing them or soon after it.
However, thinking that a dead man will not react, the NSCN (IM) is trying to justify their criminal works, the statement observes adding that this will encourage the ranks and files of the NSCN (IM) to commit any crime.
The NSCN (IM), which has been launching more than 60 years of independence movement, has shaped a number of criminals while trying to harbour the mistakes and faults causing deep apprehension among the people, the statement noted.
While praying for the souls of Dr Kishan and his two staffs to rest in peace, the UNLF statement also asks the NSCN (IM) to do justice in the name of God and to lift the truth, to try to live in peace with other communities and to stick to their words.
