Three days after the incident, fresh set of condemnation on the attack of Vengnuam EBC Church still pour in even as Evangelical Baptist Convention denied they had any armed occupants during shoot-out.
Catholic Church, Churachandpur today condemns the violence perpetrated on places of worship and expresses its solidarity to the church members of EBC and condole the death of S Thawngkhanlian Ngaihte.
It also shares the sorrow and pain undergone by the bereaved family, injured and member of Vengnuam EBC.
The Board of Trustees, ECCI also condemns the 'indiscriminate firing' at EBC church and term it as ghastly deed.
"Church buildings and religious centres are places where people gather to worship God and they are highly revered places.
The sanctity of such places should be acknowledged and respected by all.
It is particularly painful to note that the shooting spree at a church at New Lamka that kills one person on the spot and injures five others were perpetrated by security forces whose task is to provide security to civilians and to enforce and protect the constitution' wrote its release.
Condemnation statements were also release by New Lamka Youth Club, Zomi Youth Association Hqtrs, Hmar Students' Association, and Sinlung Indigenous Peoples Human Rights Organisation.
In a separate statement Mao Baptist Church Association while expressing concerned over the killings at Vengnuam church and ISKCON urged all the security and UGs to maintain religious sanctity as it is the place to pray and worship the Lord.
