With various programmes and functions on his 111th birth anniversary, the State paid fitting tributes to Lamyanba Hijam Irabot today.
The birth anniversary of Irabot was celebrated not only in the State but also in many places beyond Manipur.
The main function of the birth anniversary was held at Pologround Imphal under the aegis of the Irabot Celebration Committee (ICC).
The celebration commenced with the presentation of gifts by women members of the Manipur Keithel Marup after which floral and other tributes were paid to the portrait of Lamyanba Irabot.
Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Chief Minister in-charge Th Debendra observed that although the indigenous people of the State have their own distinct cultures, traditions and dialects, there exist a collective identity for the Manipuris.

He called upon the people to follow in the footsteps of Lamyanba Irabot who stood for a united Manipur in the face of various elements threatening to disintegrate the State at several points of time in history.
Debendra also exhorted the people to leave behind selfish thoughts and to work towards bringing emotional integrity among the people of Manipur.
The most fitting homage to Lamyanba Irabot will be to fructify the works he had initiated and to fulfil his dreams by the present generation, Debendra asserted.
He explained that the integrity Irabot dreamt of was emotional integrity between hill people and valley people.
His other vision was to make Manipuri society a peaceful and developed one, he remarked.
Other presidium members �� chairman of CPI Manipur State Council M Ibohal, State secretary of CPI Manipur State Council B Sharma, Health and Family Welfare Minister Ph Parijat, MLA N Mangi and ex-MLA M Nara also joined the public in paying tribute to the pioneer figure.
They recalled contributions, achievements and sacrifices made by Irabot.
Later, 35 march past contingents offered salute to the portrait to Irabot.
On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Lamyanba Irabot, the Kripa Society in collaboration with the Sangaiprou Naga Youth Club organised a free health camp at Sangaiprou community hall today, informed a Kripa Society release.
Altogether 150 persons were examined during the camp besides providing medicines free of cost to the needy patients.
The 111th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Irabot was also celebrated under the aegis of the United Youth Organisation, Singjamei Wangma Bheigyabati Leikai at its premises.
To mark the birth anniversary of Lamyanba Irabot , candles were lighted in different parts of the State.
Moreover local youth clubs and organisations conducted social service camps in their localities in honour of the late leader.
