Imphal, September 30:
Under the personal supervision of FCS Minister Yumkham Erabot, samples of edible oil were collected from different shops in Moreh town to check for animal fat content and other adulteration in laboratory.
After collecting the oil samples along with concerned officials, the FCS Minister inspected the construction work of the multipurpose building which is an extension of the Moreh Trade Centre.
While flaying the substandard nature of the construction work, Erabot expressed that proper quality cannot be maintained due to the prevailing law and order situation.
Informing that even as the construction cost of various infrastructure projects being implemented in Moreh is funded by the Union Government, there is no provision for maintenance.
As such, it is important to execute the projects with due emphasis on quality, Erabot noted.
He disclosed that it has become a mammoth task to check UG groups from charging huge amounts of money collected as tax at Pallel for every construction material brought to Moreh.
Expressing deep apprehension that Manipur may fall into more miserable situation if the present lawlessness persists, Erabot stressed on the necessity to constitute a dedicated Ministerial team to restore law and order in the State.
After inspecting the multipurpose building being constructed within the Moreh Trade Centre complex, the Minister instructed the workers to stop using low quality bricks imported from Myanmar but to use standard bricks baked in Manipur.
He assured that transport costs for bringing building materials from Imphal will be added to the bill.
The FCS Minister also inspected the ongoing construction work of the District Registrar Co-operative office building at Moreh.
About the collection of cooking oil samples from retailers of Moreh who imported the item from Myanmar, Erabot conveyed serious doubt about its quality and possible adulteration.
During the sample collection, Minister Erabot and his team came across many tins of cooking oil sans label of manufacturing or expiry date.
Earlier cooking oil samples were also collected from Paona Bazar and Thangal Bazar of the capital city.
