Imphal, July 02: Following the assault of Health Commissioner AR Khan by a doctor, the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal has today remanded the accused doctor to police custody till 1 pm tomorrow.

Case records said one Dr N Nando, who is the Medical Officer-in-charge (Store) physically assaulted the Commissioner at the latter�s office chamber yesterday evening around 5.15 following a heated argument between the two.

AR Khan reportedly sustained injuries at the left eye, it said adding the Commissioner immediately lodged a complaint on the matter to Imphal Police Station resulting in the doctor�s arrest minutes later.

Nando was produced before the Magistrate today and an FIR was registered against the doctor even as the accused himself filed a bail application before the same court.

In his application Nando said he was summoned by AR Khan and demanded correction pertaining to rate quotation on supply of medicines.

Since he had no authority to rectify the matter the two were involved in a verbal duel resulting in exchange of blows, mentioned the doctor�s application.

Free treatment: Free Acu-pressure treatment for all types of diseases like paralysis, pain in the joints, diabetes, sinus, high and low BP among others would be provided to the patients during a camp at S Kumar Care Promotor, Porompat Branch, JN Hospital Road from July 3 to 4.
