Imphal, July 02:
The widening work undertaken on TT Laii Kharasom road between Tungjoy and Tadubi, which is otherwise seen as a great step towards development of the area is criticized for the moment due to the hardships faced by the commuters along this route.
The condition of the road is worsening due to the heavy rain making vehicular movement difficult.
The work, undertaken by a local contractor, will broaden the road by forty feet and would benefit many villages.
However, due to many factors, local people have started grumbling over the work.
One main inconvenience that the villagers face is while transporting seasonal vegetables to Imphal and neighboring Nagaland State.
The slushy road has made the transportation of the vegetables very hazardous.
Vegetable growers are likely to be hard-hit as there is no alternative route.
President of the Paomata Development Council, ThThaikho stated that the organization has apprised the Executive Engineer, PWD, Senapati division to make alternate arrangement so that the poor vegetable growers export their goods without incurring any loss on their hard labour.
Getting no response from the authority concerned till date, the president has once again appealed for an immediate alternative arrangement.
The road being mud-splattered, no other vehicle are able to ply except shaktiman truck and light vehicles with special gear.
