Imphal, July 28 2009:
Within 14 hours of the shooting and injuring a Bihari, who has converted to Rongmei (Kabui) tribe, and running a grocery shop at Sawombung Khunjao in Imphal East District, a non-local man, hawking eatables and spices, was shot dead by unidentified armed persons at Tera Moirang Hanuba Leirak Machin in Imphal West District even as a deflected bullet wounded a 10-year old boy.
Police report said 35 year old Amit Sahu s/o Sriram Raj Sahu of Buxar district, Bihar but staying in a rented house at Ragailong in Imphal as shot dead by two unidentified armed persons, who came riding on a red colour scooter (Kinetic Honda or Activa), while he was coming to deliver his goods to a shop at Tera Moirang Hanuba Leirak Machin at around 8 am today.
Amit died on the spot.
There were fatal bullet marks on his chest and stomach.
Amit Sahu had reportedly gone out from his rented house on his bicycle at around 6 am today.
10-year-old Tongbram Tomba s/o Dhananjoy of Moirang Hanuba Leirak, who came out to make some purchase from the same shop, when the unidentified armed persons opened fire at Amit Sahu, was also hit by a deflected bullet on his left thigh.
After the incident, Imphal West District Police launched a massive search operation in Takyel Kolom Leikai area.
During the op eration, all the people were herded to the local play ground for verification.
However, there is no report of any arrest.
