Two persons who are members of a patient party wounded when a hand grenade hurled by unidentified armed persons exploded at a private maternity clinic at Uripok Kombirei Keithel area of Imphal West District at around 4.15 am today even as police retrieved another hand grenade from near the maternity clinic at North AOC here.
According to police report, in the first incident, 45-year old Khundrakpam Joykumar Singh and 25 year old Ningthoujam Sanatomba Singh of Ningthoukhong Wand no 7 who are looking after a patient admitted to Langol View Charitable Clinic located near the Southern Gate of RIMS sustained injuries when the grenade hurled by unidentified armed persons exploded near the OPD block at around 4.15 am today.
Joykumar was hit by bomb splinters on his right thigh while Sanatomba on his face.
Both the victims have been discharged after treatment at the same clinic.
Three water storage tanks of 2000 lite capacity each placed near the site of the explosion and the window panes of the OPD block have also been damaged in the attack apart from puncturing the tyre of a scooter.
On the other hand, an unexploded grenade hurled by unidentified armed persons has been recovered from near Maipakpi Maternity and Child Hospital at North AOC at around 8 am today in the grenade attack.
Bomb experts of the Police Dept retrieved the bomb and detonated safely at Lamphel area at around 9.30 am.
