MSCW presents Chakkouba gifts to women prisoners

IN connection with Ningol Chakkouba festival, Members of Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) Hodam Piteswori and June Rose Vaiphei presented shawls to all the women prisoners at Imphal Central Jail on Wednesday.
Speaking to media on the occasion, Hodam Piteswori said that Ningol Chakouba is one of the important celebrations of all the married women in Manipur.
As all the women celebrate the festival with mirth and gaiety, and the prisoners in this jail also want to mark the day.
So, the function is being organized in an effort to share some of the happiness of this festival with the prisoners.
June Rose urged all the prisoners to reform themselves and lead a meaningful life in future by contributing towards development of the state.
She also said that the presentation is a token of love and an initiative to make all the prisoners better individuals of the society.
I K Muivah, Superintendent of Police In-Charge, Imphal Central Jail, who was also present on the occasion, pointed out that there is no multi-purpose hall and vocational facilities inside the jail campus and it caused lot of inconveniences to the prisoners.
He also appealed to the state government to make necessary arrangement as soon as possible for the betterment of the prisoners.
Additional SP (Prison), Th Subhachandra and Jailor Imphal Central Jail, S Taothang also participated in the function.
