Imphal, November 14 2012:
Vowing down to public pressure, Kuki State Demand Committee has deferred its stand over launching indefinite public blockade along all National Highways (NHs) and State Highways (SHs) passing through Kuki-inhibited areas till November 17 .
The public blockade was earlier scheduled to begin from November 15 .
Addressing media persons in Churachandpur today, Benjamin Mate, General Secretary of KSDC, said that the decision to defer the proposed public blockade has been taken in view of the forthcoming Ningol Chakkouba festival.
He further clarified that the claim made by UPF that it would not support the blockade called by KSDC was due to a misunderstanding between the two parties.
The proposed map issued KSDC is also a false map since a number of Kuki inhabited areas have been left out.
He also asserted that demand of KSDC is the rightful demand of the Kukis.
The statement made by Deputy Chief Minister on the issue is just politically motivated.
