Two individuals whose mobile handsets were allegedly snatched by police personnel lodged a complaint with the state police DGP seeking appropriate action against those police personnel involved in the case and return their mobile handsets.
The two individuals Chongtham Sanahal (28) son of Ch Achouba of Khurai Angom Leikai and Sagolshem Roshan (25) son of S Nabachandra of Keishampat Hodam Leirak lodged the joint complaint with the DGP today.
The two mobile handsets were snatched away by the police personnel of Lilong Police Station today at about 11 am while they were proceeding towards Lilong Turel Ahanbi from Thoubal Khekman side in a motorcycle.
A team of Lilong Police Station among who included ASI Hibzur, ASI Zakub, constable Roshan and three other unknown personnel coming on a white colour Gypsy vehicle stopped them and took away the mobile handsets with one SIM card after they were carry upto Kaleikhong.
In the petition, it was also put down that the act of the police personnel were very much contradictory to their assigned duties reminding that the primary purpose of the Manipur Police is to uphold the law fairly and firmly, to prevent crime, to pursue and bring to justice those who break the law, to keep the peace in partnership with the community, to protect help and reassure the people and to be seen to do all this with integrity, common sense and sound judgement.
They demanded appropriate punitive action against the police personnel to return the mobile handsets taken by them and to take up disciplinary action by conducting departmental action.
