Expressing concern over the plight of the villagers of Sajik Tampak in the wake of the army occupation and operation to flush out insurgents, Threatened Indigenous People's Society (TIPS), Manipur has appealed to the Government for taking up effective measures for resolving the problem.
In a statement, organisation secretary A Tondon Singh alleged the Govt of being a mute spectator to all that is happening in Sajik Tampak and said that this indifferent attitude of the Government has raised serious doubt as to whether it has given free hand to the Indian Army and for martial law in the area.
Asserting that the indifferent attitude of the Govt would only earn the wrath of the people, TIPS further observed that political solution is the only solution to the existing problem of insurgency in the State.
It also announced its decision of the supporting the cause of the displaced villagers who have fled their homes and hearths for safer places.
Body demands education right: People Welfare Forum Thoubal District has demanded that educational activities at Sajik Tampak and other affected areas should not be compromised during the operations launched by Indian security forces to flush out underground organizations from their base camps.
Expressing solidarity to the suffering of Sajik Tampak villagers due to sporadic skirmishes between the security force and underground elements the Forum also condemned the SPF Govt for lack of initiatives to ameliorate the grievances of the effected villagers.
It also appealed to the security force to exercise restrain while dealing with the situation and desired that Army higher-ups properly advise their personnel against committing atrocities upon innocent civilians.
Death condoled: The Tenyimi central union (Nagaland, Manipur and Assam), Kohima deeply condoled the demise of Sanyi Dahru who passed away on May 5 at Senapati district headquarters.
