Imphal, August 09 2009:
Extra-Judicial Execution's Victim Families' Association (EEVFAM) urged upon the State Government to institute Judicial Inquiries into all the cases of 'encounter killings' in the past few years.
Citing an intance, EEVFAM said that one auto rickshaw driver Ningthoujam Anand of Top Moirangkampu was picked up by security forces from DM College campus at around 11:30 am and found dead at Makhan village of Senapati district.
EEVFAM alleged that police later concocted a story of encounter death.
Memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister in connection with the death did not yield any result, EEVFAM said.
The association also urged the State Government to release all the civil society leaders arbitrarily arrested in connection with the ongoing protest.
