Imphal, October 14 2009: A woman was allegedly burnt to death by her in-laws on October 6 in Bishnupur district.

According to a delayed report, the victim identified as one Khwairakpam Baby, wife of Kh Shyam was set on fire by her husband's family members led by her mother-in-law on October 5 but succumbed to her injuries at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) on October 6 .

Condemning the brutal act of burning a woman at Thanga, Bishnupur district by her in-laws, United Naraseina Development Committee, Manipur has appealed to all the civil society organizations (CSOs) and the women organizations to cooperate in conferring befitting punishment to the culprits, stated a press release issued by the committee.

The committee further stated that such brutal acts are not even done by wild beasts and such a dreadful incident seldom occurs in the State.
