India's popular football team McDowel Mohun Bagan who wish to win their I-League match with Lajong FC Shillong,here holds a goalless draw at jam packed Khuman Lampak mainstadium here this afternoon.
Both team got some chances to score but they couldn't fulfill their respective desire to win the match.
Even their goalies did well.
Even the Mohan Bagan dominated the first half of the match,Lajong took their turn in the second half of the match with many attempts.
But both the teams couldn't produce their lucky striker till the final whistle came.
However Lajong look better of the two in the midfield - particularly their skipper Jersey No 10 John D Monyongar.
Today's match would be the Mohun Bagan's rare appearance after a gap of 13 years in front of nearly 20,000 strong crowd of Imphal after their last performance in Imphal in 1998 .
"Since the beginning our players feels that the ground here is hard.
There's too much bouncing.But we played well but we miss chances," says Mohun Bagan's Coach Prasanta Banerjee soon after the match.
"Our attempt was 3-1 not 0-0" .
"Today's match was ours best performance among all Imphal matches.
But I was disappointed as a team with the margin,"feels Lajong captain who was awarded the man of the match.
On the other hand reacting to the day's match, Lajong's coach Pryadhyum Reddy appreciated the performance of his team saying that both the teams played very well despite the rough field conditions.Meanwhile Lajong FC Shillong has also started to look for an alternative home ground besides Imphal due to uneasy accessibility,ground condition besides fans factors.
"We're trying to promote football in NE,we need to play around in the region," says Pryadhyum Reddy.
"But we're yet to take the decision" .
