Shirui Cup inaugurated

The 28th Shirui Lily Cup National Level Football tournament kicked�off today at a jam-packed TNL Ground amidst much fanfare, here.
During the inauguration function Chief Security Commissioner (CSC) Railway Protection Force (RPF), North Frontier Railways, Guwahati Qr Somi Zimik graced the function as the chief guest and Sudhan R IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul as the chairman of Shirui Lily Cup National Level tournament.
Zimik, a student of Sacred Heart School during his school days was himself a good player throughout his youthful days and remains an ardent supporter of the beautiful game.
"Even though I am not in a position to play like I used to during my school days the burning desire for the game will under no circumstance part away from me, the railway security chief said.
Observing further, Zimik said the present generation players need to be encouraged as players who excel in the game have wide opportunity to find secured job.
He further said the remorseful state of TNL football ground is a matter of grave concern for the budding footballers and the denizen at large.
"moreover lack of gallery for the fans is really unfortunate necessitating attention of the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police to take up requisite measures for welfare of the sports persons and the district as whole.
Nevertheless, he suggested and implied that the present TNL ground to be entrusted with full responsibility to Ukhrul District Sports Association (UDSA) for further development and maintenance.
As a part of the inauguration programme an exhibition match was played between Ukhrul United FC and Yarkhok United FC, which ended with both side scoring one goal each.
