NEROCA (Sangakpham), TRAU (Tiddim Road), TRUGPU (Nambol) and PYC (Phoudel) recorded convincing victories over their respective opponents in the eighth round matches of the 3rd Manipur State League Football Tournament at different venues today while defending champion NISA, Thangmeiband were held to a 1-1 draw at Moirang.
Playing away from home, TRUGPU recorded the highest margin of win drubbing NLYC 6-1 at churachandpur ground with G maringmei (16th), Kh Naoton (23rd), M Sudhiranjan (39th, 46th, 61st) scoring for the former and S Kimminthang netting the home side's face saver in the 57th minute.
Hosting ESU, Wangkhei NEROCA also scripted a comfortable 4-0 victory on goals from H Amarjit (67th) and T Dhiren (73rd, 81st, 93rd) while at Hiyangthang Kangjeibung David Kamson (26th-P), Hemkhosuan Touthang (45th) and Helun Haokip (84th) starred in hosts TRAU's 3-0 rout of USA, Khurai.
Md Riyaz Khan (22nd) and Kh Netaji (85th) struck on either side of the half at Thoubal Kshetri Leikai ground to guide home PYC by a brace against visitors YWC, Thambalkhong.
In three drawn matches, MPSC and SSU, Singjamei settled for a 1-1 draw at the former's MPTS Pangei ground, as hosts AMOFA rallied to hold NISA by the same score margin.
At the end of the eighth round of the league competition, TRUGPU, SSU, MPSC and NISA have all collected 18 points but the Nambol side ascended to the top of the table with a better goal difference than the latter three.
Division I: YDO, Heinou Khongnembi pounded SICO, Lourembam Leikai 11-0 with M Ronel scoring thrice as CYLC and NYC played out a goalless draw in the 15th L Sangita Devi Memorial Division I Football League Tournament at Lilong Chajing ground.
