More inputs have been received with regard to the Chief Minister O Ibobi's packed schedule during the recently concluded 4th North East Business Summit 2008 held at Guwahati.
According to information conveyed by Vice Chairman of North East Federation of International Trade (NEFIT), Manipur State M Chandrakeshore Singh, on the first day of the annual congregation of top leaders of the North Eastern States NEFIT hosted a meeting between the CM and Myanmar's Ambassador to India U Kyi Thien.
Informing that the meeting was also attended by State officials including Director (Planning) Mangi Singh, Director (Industries) Y Dhiraj Singh and secretary (Home) DS Poonia as well as First Secretary U Kyaw Nyunt Lwin of the Myanmar Embassy (New Delhi), the NEFIT vice president said the discussions covered operation of Imphal-Mandalay bus service and expansion of items under the free trade agreement in addition to the Chief Minister formally inviting Kyi Thien to visit Moreh by the year end for further deliberation of related matters.
The Myanmar official reportedly reciprocated in the affirmative.
It is also conveyed that another meeting was held between NEFIT officials and the Ambassador yesterday at a Guwahati Hotel with the latter appreciating the NEFIT initiatives for the meeting with the CM and assuring to extend the 'entry permit system' to enter into Myanmar via Moreh-Tamu road upto Mandalay for two weeks.
Moreover, Kyi Thien prevailed upon the NEFIT delegates to disseminate informations such as topography, socio-cultural and historical facts of Manipur relevant to Myanmar which would be subsequently translated into Myanmarese language, Chandrakeshore confided while adding that the Myanmar leader also suggested that NEFIT take the initiative for exchange of cultural programmes to achieve/boost people to people relations between the two immediate neighbours.
