Miisikhol (MIIS) fencers wrested the Governor's Cup State Level Fencing Championship title for the third consecutive year with triumph in the 5th edition of the championship on 72 points today.
The overall team champions won seven gold, eight silver and 13 bronze medals at the end of the five day competition at Khuman Lampak Indoor stadium while runners-up SAI RC tallied 60 points from a total of 30 medals which included five gold and same number of silver.
M Molik clinched the junior boys sabre gold today as UPAA managed five gold, four silver and five bronze medals for third place finish.
In the other gold medal bout today, M Sandhyarani of SEYO defeated Kh Ranjana of SAI RC.
SEYO finished fourth.
The championship organised by Manipur Fencing Association was participated by 11 of its units in eight categories.
MIIS also emerged the best unit in sub-junior girls, cadet boys, cadet girls and junior girls category with SAI RC fencers besting their rivals in junior boys and senior girls class, while UPAA and SEYO wrested the honours in sub-junior boys and senior boys division respectively.
The closing ceremony was graced by the Governor Gurbachan Jagat as chief guest.
Ministers of Tribal Development DD Thaisii and Education L Jayantakumar Singh were respectively president and guest of honour.
