Tamenglong, June 17 2009:
A team of Zeliangrong Baudi Tamenglong Zone left district headquarters for Tousem with relief materials collected from the public for the refugees taking shelter at different relief camps at Tousem, Mandei and Aben villages today.
The team departed with two jeeps loaded with clothes, utensils, toiletries, food items and medicines.
This is a part of the relief to be extended to those suffering brethren, said Ms Ramning Pame, Secretary of Zeliangrong Pui Tamenglong Zone adding that the union in collaboration with the Zeliangrong Baudi and other bodies has been extending help to the displaced villagers.
It may be mentioned that a Relief Committee has been set up where people can contribute their bit to the relief of the displaced villagers.
A total of 673 villagers are taking shelter at the camps opened in three villages.
According to an official source, the displaced villagers will be provided works under NREGS.
