The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has taken serious note of dereliction of duty on the part of some Booth Level Officers in the ongoing household survey for correction in the Photo Electoral Rolls.
On the instruction of the Election Commission of India, the Booth Level Officers have been appointed to conduct household survey for necessary correction in the Photo Electoral Rolls with effect from March 2. These Booth Level Officers are supposed to visit each and every households for the purpose.
But the CEO received report that some of the Booth Level Officers are abstaining from visiting the households individually and doing their work while sitting at a convenient place of the assigned locality.
Taking serious note of the matter, the Joint Chief Electoral Officer today issued instructions to all concerned for paying special attention to the ongoing survey, stating that Electoral Registration Officers concerned would be held responsible in case of detecting any error in the revised Photo Electoral Rolls as a consequence of dereliction of duty.
