Decrying undue interference from some quarters in the ongoing construction work of the High Court complex, law yers have ceased work from today and sat on protest in front of the High Court complex here.
Being organised jointly by High Court Bar Association, Manipur and All Manipur Bar Association, it is said the protest demonstration would continue till August 1 .
Later talking to media persons at the office of High Court Bar Association, spokesperson of the Association, Advocate N Kumarjit, pointed out that Indian Constitution has provisions for setting up High Court in each State and accordingly the foundation stone for construction of the
High Court complex of the State was laid on April 30, 2006 at Chingmeirong.
But some UG groups have given undue interference in
the construction of the Court complex forcing the construction company to stop the work even as the officials of the company starting fleeing from Manipur.
This is really unfortunate, he said, while informing that during the course of the agitation, the lawyers would not take up any cases.
According to police, no formal complaint have been received in this regard though a suo moto has been taken up.
