With an aim to seek opinion from different walks of life on Peace and Development, Deshkal Society today organised an interactive seminar on the topic "Voices from Manipur on Peace and Development: Intervention in Globalising World" at Lecture Hall, Department of Political Science, MU.
Speaking on the occasion, Deshkal Society chairman Prof Imtiaz Ahmed observed that peace is an indispensable medium to foster development in the fast changing contemporary world.
Stating about the idea behind organising such seminar, Deshkal Society secretary Sanjay Kumar said that it is to formulate on different voices, ideas and informations from different sections of the society on bringing peace in the State.
After making various rounds of interraction on the topic made by students, intellectuals, media representatives, trade representatives and self help groups who took part in the seminar, it was unanimously decided that civil societies should try to convince the insurgents to come on the negotiating table.
The time is ripe to look at the larger interest of Manipur, so that the State also takes part in the trends of change and progress, the participants opined.
The seminar was inaugurated by MU Vice Chancellor Prof C Amuba.
