Braving the light drizzle that hit the capital this afternoon, hundreds of people took part at the Prayer Walk organised by Love Manipur.
Manipur Human Rights chairman Justice WA Shishak flagged off the walk from Kangla.
Displaying placards that read We Stand for Peace, We are One, Hatred Divides Community, Let's Stop Ransom, Let's Make Manipur a Land of Peace, the walk initiated with an aim to bring about peace and transformation in the State took various streets of the capital before winding up at Hapta Kangjeibung.
Speaking at the gathering there, Archbishop of Imphal Rev Dominic Lumon said that the uninterrupted violence, misunderstandings, bandhs, blockades, general strikes bring unrest to the people of this once peaceful State.
The walk clearly signalled that the people cannot tolerate longer to the atrocities and violence happening everyday, he observed.
Stating the present situation of the State, UCM president Konsam Langamba said that people from all faiths should join such walk to bring peace in Manipur.
Speaking on the occasion, AMUCO president R Yangsosong Koireng opined that only unity and equality can foster peace in the State.
Love Manipur chairman Holngam Haokip, Seventh Day Adventist president KA Simre MPCC president Gaikhangam were also present on the dais.
