Imphal, October 01:
Describing conduct and activities of KCP (P) as anti-people and belittling revolutionary movement the proscribed UNLF has imposed complete ban on the former group with immediate effect.
Asking KCP (P) activists to abandon/cease all their activities the UNLF warned of dire consequences in case of failure to heed the word of caution and urged parents/elders to rein-in their wards in order to avert undesired repercussions.
The outfit referring to KCP (P) activists constantly threatening medical personnel (doctors), harassing the general public and banning production of Manipuri digital films said such conducts do not reflect any revolutionary principle or spirit.
levelling concocted charges of the doctors being immoral, impeding revolutionary struggle and threatening them (doctors) with severe penalty only to return into oblivion after extorting money from the frightened medical personnel is not only demeaning medical profession but tarnishes the image of other groups who rely upon the blessing and support of the common people to reach the goal, said a UNLF statement.
There are also several instances of the KCP (P) group creating fear psychosis amongst the people so that gullible section of the society prefers to part with their hard earned money in exchange of a secured existence, charged the UNLF.
Regarding KCP (P)s ban on digital film, the UNLF said setting guideline in preserving culture and tradition of Manipur should not be limited to diktats of a party or group of people but should involve inputs and suggestion of subject experts as well as film producers.
UNLF believes in accommodating voices of all concerned in framing a cultural policy on which film production should be based and could not endorse KCP (P)s prohibition which is akin to announcing premature burial of film industry in Manipur, it said.
Another reason UNLF cited for decision to ban KCP (P) is lack of clarity on who is running the group as activities of the group is announced through the media under one Leingak Leima Chanu without making the public aware of the outfits chairman/secretary etc is.
Press statements on KCP (P) supporting campaigns against substance abuse and involvement in other public activities is merely to clear the ground to serve extortion notes and grab contract works, charged the UNLF while accusing the KCP (P) of indulging in kidnapping of young girl for ransom and collecting the money even after killing the captive by assuring release.
Taking into account all the groups misconduct and public complaints, UNLF is of the view that existence of KCP (P) endangers public safety and will dent revolutionary movement as such elements could be easily utilised by Government of Indias agent/s in sabotaging the ongoing struggle, observed the statement.
UNLF also sought the support and active involvement of other revolutionary organisations in banning activities of the KCP (P) before the group create chaotic situation in the society.
