Imphal East District police arrested a UNLF cadre during frisking near the 7 BN MR Khabeisoi gate along the Imphal-Ukhrul road this morning at around 8.30.The arrested youth has been identified as one Khangembam Angousana Meitei alias Angamba (21) s/o Kh Sanatomba of Kumbi Leishangdong Leikai.
During preliminary interrogation, the youth disclosed joining UNLF in Jan 2000 through one Ningtamba and underwent training at Sajik Tampak.
The youth's army number is 1176, said police source.
In another incident, a team Imphal East Dist police arrested one KCP activist during cordon and search operation at Bamon Leikai at around 11 am.
The arrested youth has been identified as Wahengbam Chalamba, (26) alias Ejarn s/o W Irabot Singh of Patsoi part-I.On preliminary interrogation, the arrestee disclosed that he joined KCP in 2002 through one Ibomcha of Heinoubok.
He presently holds the rank of S/S U Corpl.
Based on information provided by the youth, another KCP cadre identified as Aheibam Nanao Singh alias Gee (24) s/o (L) A Kunjo Singh of Iroisemba Forest Gate was arrested from his residence.
Two live rounds of AK 47 rifle and a KCP demand letter were recovered.
According to another report, personnel of the 14 Assam Rifles arrested two suspected underground members from Nepali Khuti located seven Kms north east of Kangpokpi PS on April 4.The two arrested youths have been identified as Poutinphai Khongsai (18) of Dimapur Lilin village and Suju Poumai (28) of Khamsom Village under Ukhrul Dist.
One 9 MM pistol and four rounds were recovered from Poutinphai while one M-16 rifle along with four rounds were recovered from Suju Poumai.
Both of them were handed over to Kangpokpi police yesterday.
In another incident, troops of the 37 Assam Rifles apprehended a suspected UG and recovered two live Lethod bombs and an empty shell of the Lethod bomb from Moreh Turel Wangba Ward No VII last night at around 6.The arrested youth has been identified as one Asem Romen alias Inaocha alias Kokpa s/o A Momon of Naoremthong Khullem Leikai.
The youth was handed over to Moreh Police station today.
Meanwhile, unidentified gunmen fired several rounds at the residence of Dr Thongbam Manihar located at Uripok Sinam Leikai last night, said sources.
