The youth who was gunned down by police commandos at near NG Mani College in Khurai Chairenthong area yesterday evening has turned out to the same person who was released from Sajiwa Jail hours earlier.
The victim identified today as Ningthoujam Binoy alias Khaiba (28) s/o N Biramangol of Keirenphabi was arrested by a team of Imphal police in October last year from Oinam Dam area of Mayai Lambi and had been detained at Sajiwa Jail under the NSA.
According to family members, Binoy was released at around 4.30 pm yesterday and was returning home in a Maruti Van along with his father, brother-in-law and three other persons with his legal counsel following the vehicle on a two wheeler.
In a startling revelation the family members alleged that a team of commando personnel stopped the vehicle near the College premise and shot dead Binoy besides arresting the victim's father Nilachandra (46) and brother-in-law Salam Kameshore (25) of Keibul in Bishnupur district.
Binoy's body is still laying at RIMS mortuary.
To protest the killing women folk of Keirenphabi today arrived at the Chief Minister's gate but was denied entry as the CM was not available.
They also attempted to meet the Chief Minister in-charge Th Debendra.
