The Imphal-kolkata-Guwahati-Silchar flight service of the low cost airliner Air Deccan has been formally launched today by the private carriers' National sales head Mahesh Yadav.
Operation of the flight service on these routes had already commenced since October 30.Informing the matter during an interaction with media persons at the Airport Hotel of Imphal Airport, Mahesh Yadav said among others all out efforts are being made to ease ticket purchasing rigours for which the airliner would be tying up with the State Bank of India to facilitate account holders of the bank to book and produce tickets from the financial institution.
Mentioning that the tie-up processes might be finalised by January end next year, Mahesh also informed that all transaction of Air Deccan's authorised travel agency would be made through the Bank.
Other than the SBI the second largest domestic airliner has tie-ups with Citi Bank, ICICI and American Express, he said while informing that Air Deccan has 300 daily flights connecting 61 destinations and carrying over 6 million passengers.
With the flight service provider emphasising on affordability, reliability and accessibility for public conveyance Air Deccan had also entertained 2436 job seekers till June this year in addition to domestic market share of 21.2 percent, said the official and exuded confidence of reaching the target of ferrying 7-8 million in 2007.Moreover, the airliner is working on introducing e-ticketing facility and cargo service within short notice, he informed.
The official launch of the flight service was also attended by Joint General Manager of Airport Authority of India, Imphal Airport Binit Gulati and other officials.
