Imphal, January 01:
Stating that it is not in way involved in the life attempt on the Editor of Kangla Pao, P Labango on December 20 night, the proscribed KYKL today said that it fully understands and emphatises with the media fraternity which has become a victim of the Indo-Kanglei conflict and factional conflict of revolutionary outfits.
In a statement the outfit said that it waited for 15 days to see if any of the revolutionary organisations will come forward to claim the responsibility for the attack.
However since no armed group has claimed responsibility, it is now clear that the attack was not carried out by the genuine revolutionary groups of Manipur.
It is clear that the attack was launched to smear the image of the revolutionary outfits by the enemy, claimed the outfit and added that the revolutionary organisations should investigate the case and bring out the truth.
The attack on Labango was not only an attack on an individual but an attack on the freedom of the press, said KYKL and hailed the responsibility shouldered by the press amid the conflicting situation.
The KYKL respects the media fraternity for the spirit, ethics, sense of responsibility and patriotism while discharging their duties, added the outfit.
