The Hiyang Tanaba of Manipur has been selected among the 21 tableaux from 13 States and 8 Ministries/Departments to participate in the Republic Day parade at Rajpath, New Delhi on January 26.Unfortunately, it has been described as the 'traditional boat of Meiteis tribe'.
A PIB statement issued in this connection said that this year, 21 tableaux will participate in the forthcoming Republic day parade where India will showcase its varied cultural, development in science and technology, military might and economic strength and each will depict its own story to portray themes varying from industrial progress to National heritage and from traditional art and culture to legendary figures.
However, in the highlight of the tableau from Manipur, the PIB described Hiyang Tanaba, the traditional royal boat race as 'traditional boat race of Meiteis tribe'.
In the sequence of the parade, the Hiyang Tanaba of has been placed in second slot after the 'Astronomical Observatory, Jantar Mantar, Jaipur'
of Rajasthan.
