A wish giving ceremony for the students of Zenith Academy appearing in Class XII examination was held at the Academy located at Sangaiprou in Imphal West district today.
SP Imphal East, Th Radheshyam was the chief guest, social worker L Tarpon was the president and parents' nominee Shougrakpam Hemanta was the guest of honour at the solemn ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, SP Radheshyam exhorted the students appearing in the Class XII examination not to feel disheartened when they do not become toppers in education.
Only a few of the toppers got to work for the state.
There is no point in securing the top positions if the toppers do not work for the state and nation.
He said, forceful teaching along with corporal punishment is outdated today.
Freedom of the children should be considered important in teaching.
He wished the students of Zenith Academy who are going to appear in the Class XII examination success and become good citizens and work for the people.
Secretary of the Academy S Manaoton announced that different trades such as engineering, time management, Manipuri dance, music, etc.
would be incorporated in the curriculumn.
There won't be any condition like the students should go for optional subjects such as Chemistry, Biology, etc.
The students may choose any subject, he said.
He also announced that 100 marks will be given for typing in English from the next academic session 2010 which will commence from March 10.The Academy will adopt the policies under the national curriculumn framework not to make education a burden on the students, he said and wished the students success.
Principal of the Academy, Arjun, while reading out the annual report of the Academy, informed that the Zenith Academy, established in 2006, is affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi.
In the Class XII examination 2008, the Academy bagged 46 first divisions and 21 second divisions, and there were 11 students who secured 100 out of 100 marks in painting.
The pass percentage was 73 .
In 2009, the Academy had 94 first divisions and 46 second divisions, and two students who secured 100 out of 100 mark in Manipuri and 55 students who secured 100 out of 100 in painting.
The pass percentage was 95.2 .
In the coming 2010 academic session, about 235 students will appear in Class XII examination, the principal informed and expressed confidence that there will be at least 200 first divisions, 30 second divisions, two students who will get 100 out of 100 in Manipuri and 100 students who get full 100% mark in painting.
There will be about 250 students who get letter marks.
The target of pass percentage is 98 .
Gifts were given to the teachers on the occasion.
