Participated by representatives of various student organisations of the North Eastern States, the 41st general conference of All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) will be held at GP Women's College here from January 27 to February 1.Addressing a press conference in this connection at AMSU Headquarters here today, secretary general of the student body MS Helien Lupho informed that various burning issues of the State would be discussed during the general conference to be organised under the theme 'March Forward'.
Around 1000 delegates including both from Manipur and other North Eastern States are expected to take part in the conference, he added.
So far North East Students' Organisation, All Assam Students' Union, Naga Students' Federation, Mizo Zellai Pawl, Garo Students' Union, Khasi Students' Union and Tripuri Students' Federation, etc have given their confirmation for participation in the conference, he informed.
In view of the problem of accommodation and transport like to be faced in organising the event successfully, the student body has also appealed to all the people to extend their co-operation and support.
It further appealed to all the social organisations to abstain from imposing bandh, blockade or general strike to coincide with the period of the general conference.
For organising the general conference successfully, AMSU has set up a committee with president of the student body as chairman, vice president as vice chairman and general secretary as convenor.
Ahead of the general conference, AMSU would be organising a reception function in honour of all those elected representatives of the College Student's Unions on January 17, Lupho further informed.
