The ongoing plastic free campaign initiated by the Blue and Green team is gaining momentum with organising of different competitions for youth and students today.
Painting competition on the theme, 'plastic free Manipur' was conducted at Maharaja Bodhachandra College as a part of the campaign which has been crusading for an organic Manipur for the last two weeks.
Around 50 students from 30 different schools participated in the competition.
Screening tests for mime, dance, drama and song were also held at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen in which 122 participants from different schools, colleges, and teams took part.
The participants expressed their desire for an organic Manipur through different forms of art like hip hop dance, songs, poem, mime, drama and creative dances on western, classical, modern and Manipuri style.
The screening was conducted by a team consisting of writer, academician, theatre and film directors.
The campaign is being taken up under the initiatives of Institute of Fashion Design (iFD) with the name Blue and Green.
The month-long campaign will continue with awareness programmes in various institutes.
The campaign has released two theme songs and launched a website solely dedicated for a plastic free Manipur.
The non-profitable group will be organising a mega event in the coming days to spread awareness against plastic pollution.
iFD is making paper bags and other organic products as alternatives to plastic products.
