A meeting of the State Cabinet with the Chief Minister in the chair today has given approval to increasing the DA of Government employees to 11 percent.
The Cabinet meeting, has also decided to go ahead with the Panchayat election on September 19 as fixed earlier inspite of the prevailing flood situation in most part of the valley districts.
The request of the Imphal East DC to postpone the Panchayat election in view of the flood situation was discussed by the Cabinet.
But instead of postponing the date, the Cabinet decided to hold the election as per the schedule already announced by deploying more manpower if it is necessary.
Apart from increasing the DA of the employees by merging 50 percent of the DA in the salary, the Cabinet meeting has also decided to create one ex-cadre post of IGP and ADGP each of IPS rank.
Along with the approval of setting up Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences at JN Hospital, Porompat, the Cabinet has also decided that the Chief Minister would inspect the site for setting up the proposed institute tomorrow.
