Different Courts today remanded the ZEO of Churachandpur, Seboi Gangte, arrested in connection with the fraudulent withdrawal of over Rs 12 crores as pensions of retired Head Pandits and Md Okar arrested for shooting to death his brother yesterday, to police remand.
While the CJM, Churachandpur remanded the accused officer to police remand till June 2, the Judicial Magistrate, 1st Class, Imphal West remanded Md Okar to police custody till June 4.Following a prayer from the Churachandpur police, the CJM, Churachandpur today remanded the district's ZEO to police remand for three days.
The ZEO, Seboi Gangte was arrested by the police yesterday in connection with the fraudulent withdrawal of over Rs 13 crores as pensions for retired Head Pandits.
The accused was produced before the Court of the CJM today by the police who also submitted a prayer to the Court to remand the officer for further interrogation.
After perusing the matter, the Court remanded the ZEO to police remand for three days, said sources.
The Court also asked the police to produce the accused before it on June 2.Meanwhile, the Judicial Magistrate, 1st Class today remanded Md Okar of Paobitek to police remand till June 4.Okar was arrested on the charge of shooting his youngest brother, Sanatomba (26) to death following a family dispute over a bamboo grove yesterday.
Another younger brother of the accused, Md Nahayai (33), was injured when he opened fire with a double barrel gun.
Frauds suspended: Two employees of the Education (S) Department who were penalised by the underground KYKL for their involvement in the fake appointment scam in Churachandpur district have been suspended by the Government.
The two accused said to be masterminds of the fake appointment and placed under suspension are Chothe Junior High School teacher S Subachandra and LDC in the Education Directorate Kh Ahanjao.
According to informed source, concerned police station had been instructed to arrest 41 teachers alleged to have got appointments through improper channel.
