Imphal, October 20 2011:
Around 50 women Home Guard personnel who were deployed in Jiribam when the agitation for full fledged Jiribam district intensified have been told that their pay would be deducted by Rs 1000 each in place of the hill allowance given to them when they were detailed for duty at Jiribam.
According to some Home Guard personnel, around 50 of them were sent to Jiribam from September 14 to 19 with the promise of giving them Rs 1000 each as hill allowance.
But when they came back, the Home Guard personnel were told by authorities that Rs 1000 given to each of them would be deducted from their salaries.
Peeved with such treatment of the authorities, the women Home Guard personnel who went for duty to Jiribam have not drawn their salaries.
They have also sought immediate attention of the higher authorities to look into the matter.
Meanwhile, drivers of Central Motor Transport under Police Department have also appealed to the Govt to release pending salaries before Ningol Chakkouba.
It is reported that about 116 drivers have not been getting their salaries since May this year.
