Jiribam, October 20 2011:
Responding to the call of Jiribam District Demand Committee (JDDC), employees working in various Government offices under Jiribam Sub-Division have launched a pen down strike since yesterday.
In continuation of its ongoing agitation over the demand for upgradation of Jiribam Sub-Division to a full-fledged revenue district, JDDC had earlier called for a pen down strike of the Government employees from October 19 to 23 .
On the second day today, members of JDDC conducted an inspection tour of around 10 Government offices and came across most of the staff observing pen down strike.
Some of the staff also pledged their support to JDDC in any future course of agitation taken up over the demand for granting district status to Jiribam.
A media team accompanied the members of JDDC during their inspection tour.
Members of JDDC are expected to carry out similar inspection in the Government offices under Barak circle tomorrow.
