Imphal, November 15 2009:
Following her ordeal in the custody of security forces for five days, 12 year old Salam Bidyarani of Nongmaikhong is still suffering from anxiety, tension and trauma.
This was observed when a team of media persons based outside the State currently visiting Manipur under sponsorship of Panose South Asia visited the girl at her home today.
In addition to anxiety and trauma, the girl is also apparently suffering from memory loss.
She could not recall the past incidents including her experiences of the five day ordeal.
Bidyarani's worried mother Salam Memocha said that her daughter wished to study.
"But now she has her attention somewhere else.
She would get up suddenly while sleeping and fall back", the mother said remorsefully.
Memocha said that she had spent three months in jail while her husband Deban has been still languishing in prison under NSA.

Taking up the case of Bidyarani with the Chief Minister during an interview today, the Chief Minister told the journalists that Bidyarani was communication quite often with a leader of a UG group and this was intercepted by police.
But when a combined team of police and army went to raid her home, both the parents of Bidyarani had already fled.
However, some weapons were recovered from the house, Ibobi said.
Bidyarani was never arrested.
She was only taken to hospital for diagnosis and treatment, he added.
