In all, 67 students including four impersonators have been expelled for using unfair means and malpractices during the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSSLC), 2004 which concluded today.
The examination commenced from April 12 and was conduct-ed by Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur.
As for the fate of those students who could not appear in the examination yesterday due to killing of a candidate at Wabagai Private Centre, the Council would be taking a decision soon in this regard, Council secretary Dr N Kunjabihari has informed.
On the last day of the HSSLC examination today, which had Geography, Geology and Statistics papers, two students were expelled from Lilong Private Centre for using unfair means.
Both of them are from science stream and their roll numbers are 6108 and 6153.With them, the total number of students expelled from the examination has risen to 67.These include four cases of impersonation, two each from Chandel and Motbung private centres.
Meanwhile, Council secretary N Kunjabihari while talking to The Sangai Express informed that the Council would be convening a meeting soon to decide necessary steps to be taken in connection with those students who could not appear in their examination for Biology and History papers due to killing of a student by unidentified gunmen after picking him up from Wabagai private centre yesterday.
The Council meeting would take into account the report submitted by OC of the examination centre, he said.
On the possible steps to be taken up by the Council in this connection, he said there would not be any problem in making the students passed in yesterday's subjects as fourth subjects if they passed in other subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for science students and Education, Civics and Economics or Geography for Arts students.
There is also the possibility of conducting a separate examination for them along with the Compartmental examination to be conducted in August.
All these possibilities would be looked into during the meeting of the Council, he added.
The Council secretary also echoed the discontentment and complaints being raised from authorities of certain examination centres for inadequate security arrangement.
