Besides two personnel of the CRPF a civilian woman suffered injuries in unrelated but simultaneous attack and retaliatory action at Khurai area today.
One Zunish Bibi (28) of Khurai Chairenthongkhong was hurt in indiscriminate and unprovoked firing by security forces this afternoon.
The victim initially admitted to JN Hospital has been shifted to a private hospital as her condition worsened.
Bullet marks hitting on her back and piercing though the stomach were also observed on her body.
Apparently linked to the indiscriminate firing, two CRPF jawans were injured in a bomb attack by suspected UG cadres at around 3:30 pm today at Chairenthongkhong under Heingang police station.
The injured CRPF men belong to 128 Bn B-Coy and are identified as constable (961441326) Saliman Khan (28) of Jharkhand and rifleman (90304746) Samindar Pal (41) of Ranchi.
Both of them are posted at Sajiwa jail.
Saliman was hit by a bullet on the left calf while Samindar was hit by two at the buttock.
They are being treated at RIMS Hospital.
The CRPF jawans were going to Sajiwa from Imphal when the bomb apparently planted to target the CRPF convoy exploded near the rear vehicle.
On the other hand, according to the family members of Zunish, a team of security forces came in two vehicles along Imphal-Ukhrul road firing indiscriminately all the while.
Consequent upon the indiscriminate firing, people ran helter skelter and lay down for cover.
It is reported that the people could not identify the units and battalions of the security personnel as they drove their vehicles in high speed.
However, they observed that the errant security personnel might be of Army or CRPF.
After the trigger happy security convoy passed away, a loud wailing was heard from a house some 50/60 feet West of NG Mani College of Khurai Chairenthongkhong.
As people rushed towards the direction, Zunish was found hit by a bullet in her home.
It is reported that Zunish was moping her house when the security personnel fired indiscriminately.
Meanwhile, a jawan of 6 MR posted at Ukhrul was injured in the right little toe as one of his colleagues misfired by accident while cleaning his service weapon today morning.
The injured MR jawan is identified as Laichonbam Jiban (30) of Thongjao.
He was treated at JN Hospital.
